Storage: Shallot onions should be kept in a cool, dry open space away from bright light. This will keep them fresh for up to a month.

Preparation: Trim the base with a thin, sharp knife, then pull back the skin. Because they are sweeter than regular onions, they don’t need to be sauteed/cooked as long.

Taste: Sweeter than regular onions, with a hint of garlic.

Nutritional Benefits: Onions are a great source of phytochemical that may help to promote healthy cholesterol levels and blood pressure. They are also a superb source of fiber, vitamin C, vitamin B6, manganese, and folate.
