What We’re Reading
When we’re not roaming NYC in a truck full of vegetables or recipe testing with this week’s CSA share, you can find us geeking out about the latest food and agriculture news! Here’s a roundup of where we stay up to date on the edible world. Check in next week for a list of our favorite food books!
We love this relatively new newsletter from The New York Times. The blast goes out a few times a week, and is full of seasonal recipes that are perfect for using up your CSA share. The tone is a bit tongue-in-cheek, brightening our mornings.
The Kitchn’s newsletter has been around since 2007 and has only gotten stronger over the years. We love their practicality and creativity. Daily updates feature everything from advice on freezing whole tomatoes to dinner party etiquette FAQs. Subscribe for culinary inspiration and wisdom.
Most of our team wouldn’t be here without Good Food Jobs! The site has been infinitely helpful for those of us seeking meaningful work in food, but not quite sure what all is out there. Their weekly newsletter lists top job opportunities and success stories, as well as a wonderful mini-essay every week.
Deep down, we’re just a bunch of Marion Nestle-worshiping policy wonks. That’s why we adore Politico’s daily agriculture newsletter. Every business day at 10 AM we receive a concise update on who’s lobbying who, sprinkled with a bit of humor.
And of course, Eater is our guilty pleasure for restaurant news, chef gossip, and strange videos of Guy Fieri. Recently the site has started pushing more long-form stories on food policy. They’re doing great things!
