What’s Growing

Katchkie Farm is a year-round vegetable farm. In the summer, our fields are filled with zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers and more. In the winter, our greenhouses specialize in salad and microgreens. Though we can’t guarantee any of these items each week, the page below lets you know the range of produce you might find at our markets during each month of the year.

September-October
Although Katchkie was incredibly lucky to have been spared the worst of Hurricane Irene (we survived with a little wind damage and very muddy fields, but no major flooding resulted from the storm) the fields remain very wet. The water table is higher than any other time in recent memory. While water is a very necessary ingredient for a healthy harvest, too much moisture (just like too much sun) can hurt almost any crop. So help us out by crossing your fingers for more sun and less rain as we  move from Summer into Fall.

Summer Crops (on their way out, get them while you can):

Tomatoes, Zucchini, Eggplant, Sweet Corn, Lettuce, Okra, Basil, Scallions, Bell Peppers, Watermelon

Fall Crops (we should have these through Thanksgiving):

Chard, Kale, Onions, Garlic, Beets (red and yellow), Carrots, Winter Squash, Fennel, Leeks, Tokyo Turnips, Parsley, Hot Peppers, Radishes, Rosemary, Thyme, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Kohlrabi
