Farm Team
The Katchkie Farm team is split between the farm and the city. Farmer Bob manages the farm, leading a few seasonal workers in the tilling, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting and all that goes into the daily processes of farming. Brooke Saias, Farm Project Coordinator, works in New York City managing the CSA Program, farmers markets, and overseeing all outreach efforts.

Bob was a self-proclaimed “health food junkie,” religiously juicing carrots each morning when he stumbled upon the irony: he didn’t know where the carrots came from. When he first saw the overgrown tangle that was to become Katchkie Farm, he felt as if it were waiting for his touch. Four years later, Bob has transformed the place into a certified organic spread of vegetables and greenhouses rimmed by woodland preserve.
Brooke Saias, Farm Project Coordinator
Brooke’s love for food and agriculture was sparked during her college years in the Midwest. While attending the University of Wisconsin, she became the Program Director of their student run farm and then brought her passion home to New York where she continued working towards a more healthful, just, and sustainable food system. She has experience working on farms in California and Ecuador, as well as teaching environmental education in various settings here and abroad. When not working, Brooke can be found training for her first triathlon, scouring farmer’s markets for cooking inspiration, and exploring her Brooklyn neighborhood.
