Farm Team

The Katchkie Farm team is split between the farm and the city. Farmer Bob manages the farm, leading a few seasonal workers in the tilling, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting and all that goes into the daily processes of farming. Alice Walton, Farm Project Coordinator, works in New York City selling produce at weekly Farmer’s Markets, managing the CSA, and overseeing all outreach efforts.

Bob Walker, Farm Manager

Bob was a self-proclaimed “health food junkie,” religiously juicing carrots each morning when he stumbled upon the irony: he didn’t know where the carrots came from. When he first saw the overgrown tangle that was to become Katchkie Farm, he felt as if it were waiting for his touch. Four years later, Bob has transformed the place into a certified organic spread of vegetables and greenhouses rimmed by woodland preserve.

Alice Walton, Farm Project Coordinator

Although raised in a Berkeley, California (or maybe because of this), Alice has always had an affinity for farms and sustainable agriculture and sought them out wherever she’s lived. She has spent time on organic farms in California and Connecticut. Her college thesis focused on the history of urban agriculture in New York City. When not working (and sometimes when she is) she scours farmer’s markets and experiments with the best ways to cook and eat her favorite local veggies.
