8th Annual Farm-to-Table Dinner

Every year on a Saturday in mid-July the entire Great Performances family, ranging from event directors to chefs, makes the journey together from the city to Katchkie Farm in Kinderhook, NY to put on the annual Farm to Table Benefit Dinner. This year, GP will be celebrating its 8th annual dinner. However, it’s important to remember that GP is not the star of this show – The Sylvia Center is. The Sylvia Center is a non-profit organization founded by Great Performances with the mission of inspiring young people and families to eat well through hands-on learning on the farm and in the kitchen.

The annual Farm to Table dinner is an opportunity for the GP family to unite, celebrate food, and work towards the common goal of raising funds for The Sylvia Center. As Chef Matthew Riznyk put it, “To see our team come together for such an important cause, to put behind us all the stress of daily life, really to live in the moment and understand who we are and what we are doing there is so unique and special.”


Having said that, the evening is equally remarkable for the guests. Arriving to cocktail hour via a winding dirt path up to the farm, guests are greeted with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. They can meander through the rows of vegetables or make a stop at the Learning Garden to hear about the produce being used in the Sylvia Center classes on the farm. Afterwards, guests sit down for a seasonal, family style dinner while watching the sun set. To top the night off, guests enjoy homemade desserts using local ingredients.


Guests will enjoy a beautiful farm-to-table dinner including dishes such as Roasted Zucchini Blossom and Shy Brothers Cloumage Flatbread; Wood Fired Rhode Island Squid with Arugula, Lemon and Olive Oil; Montauk Tilefish with Pea Shoots and Smoked Almond Romesco; Grilled Goffle Road Chicken with Sweet Peas and Mint; Garghanelli with Roasted Broccoli Pesto, Chile and Ricotta; Char Grilled Eggplant with Burrata and Olives; Tuscan Panzanella with Herbs, Caper Berries and Sea Salt; and Summer Figs and Bitter Greens Salad.
